I stopped posting on a daily basis about the toilet training last week because it was a bit like a shampoo commercial – wash, shampoo, rinse, repeat.
We had a number of accidents, a number of successes ; I have never been so up close and personal with the bowel and bladder movements of another person. I’ve been wee’d on, poo’ed on, and gleefully shown the results of a successful potty-run with the delight and excitement of the Little Monster who just wanted her reward. It was a truly horrifying experience!
But a week later, I’m no longer pulling my hair out or vowing to let LM wear nappies for the rest of her life. We’re not quite there yet, but with the help of Squinkies, Veggie Percy Pigs and the odd sticker or two, I’m watching LM use a potty, or toilet whenever she gets the need to go. Even better than that, no major accidents at nursery yet.
Yes, we have the odd accident. If she’s excited and playing with her friends, its likely she’ll ‘forget’ to ask to go if I don’t ask her every 2 minutes. And we’re not even close to night-time dryness yet, although amazingly LM has woken up a couple of times to ask to go to the toilet. But essentially, we’re done and I look up to the big potty in the sky and say “thank Huggies for that”
