Just before the New Year, I posted a review on the fantastic Fitbit – a personal fitness gadget which has recently featured in the World’s Top 50 Most innovative Companies by US business magazine Fast Company.

Win a Fitbit Ultra

The Fitbit acts as both a diet and fitness monitor wrapped up in a tiny, but gorgeously designed widget that you keep on you through day and night. You can then sync it up with your Fitbit diary online. I found the Fitbit highly unobtrusive and easy to use – its also extremely addictive and in conjunction with the Fitbit community, you can chat and meet other Fitbit users.

I’ll let Fitbit themselves explain it to you a bit more:

The Fitbit Ultra is an activity tracker that monitors steps, distance, sleep patterns and even stairs climbed via a state-of the-art altimeter, and includes an on-device display for real-time feedback. The information it collects automatically syncs information to a personal web profile on Fitbit.com, helping those looking to get and stay fitter and healthier to monitor and manage their daily activity and to remain motivated.

Each user has a personal profile page at Fitbit.com that shows all current and past information and trends for steps taken, distance travelled and calories burned and incorporates a food database for calorie logging. 

Fitbit.com is fully integrated with all social networks. A weight management support tool, Food Goal, is also included which dynamically changes based on activities you complete during the day and calories consumed.  Compatible with both Windows and Apple OS, the personal pages are also accessible through both free Apple and Android apps (the latter to be available from April).

    well,i cant really keep fit as i am disabled & suffer from chronic pain in my pelvis, but i potter about the house to kee me going a bit & do things with my arms to help me keep a little bit fit! i woud love a plum colour if i won xx

    I love walking and walk everywhere rather than take the bus. I have four children too and I encourage them to do the same! I also play lots of ball games with them in the evenings and weekends and we have a dog so we take him on long beach walks (we live only a couple of minutes from the beach). I refuse to pay for gym memberships when I can walk for free! We holiday in Scotland too and walk walk walk! I love it!

    My favourite way to keep fit is by doing interval training (jogging); I can’t run long distances but this keeps me in shape and I lost over 2½ stone last year doing this. I have also started using Kettlebells for training; it’s amazing what you can do with them.

    I love running, i used to do a lot when i was younger, then discovered smoking and running had to stop due to coughing! 🙁 Now i have given up smoking, had 2 boys and get put on steroids a lot due to crohn’s i now need to loose just over 2 stone, started speed walking with youngest in pushchair, now trying to build it up to a run.Really enjoying it.

    I find most exercise incredibly boring but I take the dogs to agility which is really fun, there are a lot of laughs and working in partnership with a totally different species gives me a real kick. Oh, and I cycle there because I don’t have a car. I’d like a plum coloured widget, please.
